Reaching Byron Bay

Car
Byron Bay is 10 hours drive north of Sydney on the Pacific Highway, 2 hours drive south of Brisbane and 1 hour drive south of Queensland's Gold Coast.

Train
Countrylink (13 22 32) operate a daily train from Sydney to Byron Bay, it is a 12.5 hour trip.There is also a night train which runs to Brisbane with a connection provided by Countrylink bus from Casino to Byron Bay . From Brisbane and Surfers Paradise, there are evening bus connections to Murwillumbah, from where it is an hour by train to Byron Bay.

Bus
McCafferty's, Greyhound and Premier all have services between Sydney and Brisbane which pass through Byron Bay . In addition, Kirklands and Suncoast Pacific operate buses between Surfers Paradise and Byron Bay. The Kirklands buses start from Brisbane. The Suncoast Pacific bus (only one) starts from Noosa Heads, on the Sunshine Coast, and does not go through the centre of Brisbane, although it stops at the airport.

Air
Regional Express (13 17 13) fly from Sydney to Ballina (32km South of Byron Bay), Virgin Blue also flies into Ballina. Byron Bus Transfers (02 6681 3354) meet all flights and transfer to Byron Bay. Brisbane International Airport is about 2 hours north of Byron Bay and Coolangatta Airport is about one hour north of Byron Bay. Airport transfers and car hire are available at these airports.
